Aaj Kuch Toofani Karte Hain...

I walk out of the office feeling satisfied. Finally all the issues solved....even the sticky ones, for which I had been running around for months. People at the office had assured me that nothing would be rejected ….hopefully.
source : The Hindu
I turn onto the main road. It is full of traffic as always. I decide to walk to the intersection, from where I can get an auto rickshaw easily. I look at the ground. It is covered with yellow flowers….flowers of the season. Hot breeze of the late afternoon makes the tree above to shed more flowers. The flowers look like little yellow birds....flying everywhere on the road… oblivious of the running vehicles. I control the urge to pick up some of them from the ground, what would people think of me ? I could very well imagine…traffic slowed down & all the passersby staring at me. I must not ! Maybe some other time….some other place…..when there were not many people around….
Baharon phool barsao...’ playing in my mind, I walk ahead.
I have not seen many Gulmohar trees around this time, I start to think. There is one just opposite my house. The thought reminds me of an incident. One of my clients-an old lady-had come to my office few years back. She always used to ask me to go out with her, as she thought my life was boring…..working all the time with no entertainment & her idea of entertainment was watching movies & eating out. I always told her that both the activities bored me….I mean, eating out sometimes was ok, but watching a movie ? I always find it a waste of three full hours !
Coming back to that incident, the lady again asked me & I refused as always....
“Don’t you get bored….working all the time ? Don’t you feel like going out ?” She asked me.
I opened my office door & pointed to the Gulmohar tree, which was in full bloom. “This is my idea of relaxation…..just looking at it makes me happy & relaxed !”
That Gulmohar tree is still there, I can still see some flowers on the branches of it every season, but people from nearing slums have almost ruined it…breaking off the branches & leaving it has become like an old man counting its days to death.
I will not think about it....not today at least. I had attended all the issues; there was no pressing matter I can not put off till Monday.
Halting an auto rickshaw, I start back home. Looking at the pleasant scenery of those flowering trees among some green ones on both the sides is like first raindrops falling on dry land.
What would I do after reaching home? Make some pakoras, I had been planning for many days & watch tv ? Log to IndiBlogger & read some lovely entries by my friends, I have not read ? Spend some quality time with my brother’s family & our little one ?
Reaching home, I put down my bag; with drinking water in one hand, I switch on the tv & start surfing the channels.
After watching news, I switch to my favourite channels SAB & Sony. On SAB, it is Gutur Gu time ….Na….Gutur Gu does not appeal to me, but I like Crime Petrol on Sony TV. I can watch it till their daily shows start at night….or rather switch to SAB TV to watch old episodes of  Tarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah at 5.30. In between the breaks I can make my favourite Pudina Pakoras, have an early dinner & relax.
After working full day & feeling mentally exhausted, the thought appeals to me…..but not for very long….
Thought of  yellow flowering trees would not leave my mind. What are they called? Are they ‘Garmalo’ as some people call it here ? Let me find out. I can have pakoras some other time.
Switching off my tv, I start my computer & try to google search the name of the tree. After reading various descriptions & looking at different pictures of the flowers, I come to the conclusion they are Copper Pod Trees. ( In my opinion...I could be wrong though... )
Finding a good picture of the tree for my facebook cover photo & replying to a couple of messages, I switch off my computer. Now I can go back to my tv & pakoras. I still have time.
Just then my phone rings. “ Aunty, are you free ?” a voice asks….one of my clients’ son…
“free ?”
“I have got a letter from a Mutual Fund Company. Our dividend warrant has returned undelivered.”
Relaxation ? No pressing matters ? all issues solved ?
My luck laughs at me, “Did you forget me ? You want to relax ? Do you even know the meaning of the word ?”
Jumping at me like they do in that Thumbs Up ad, it sings the same way, “Aaj Kuch Toofani Karte Hain
Flat on my back, I try to sing in a feeble voice, “ Dil Dundta hai fir wahi fursat ke rat din….”
No one is there to listen to me.....
